Indian shooter Abhinav Deshwal secured a gold medal at the ongoing Tokyo Deaflympics on Sunday, clinching the men’s 25m Pistol event after a sensational performance.
Deshwal, who already holds a gold from the Mixed Team event, dominated the individual competition. Earlier, he equalled both the World Deaf Qualification and Deaflympics records with a spectacular score of 575 in the qualification round.
In the final, the Indian ace maintained his composure to score 44 points, narrowly edging past South Korea’s Seung Hwa Lee (43) to take the top spot. This impressive victory marks India’s 15th medal in shooting at the Games, underscoring the nation’s rising dominance in the sport.
